We were supposed to show the house on Saturday, so I cleaned and cleaned, cut the grass and used my new electric weedeater.(I love that thing!)
And then it got canceled.
The upside? The whole place looked amazing for a week. It's rare for everything to be done at once, and it was soooo nice to just sit and enjoy it.
On Sunday, I was invited to lunch at The Gregory. Very fancy. I arrived early, so I took a walk down to the river, right past the old governor's mansion. I remembered going there on field trips, having picnics, and rolling down that big hill. The walk was made miserable because of the extreme heat, and by the time I got back to the restaurant, I was dripping with sweat.
After lunch, I visited with the kids and then went to the restaurant where my daughter works.
I was pooped by the time I got home that night.
On the drive home, my daughter called to say she'd stepped on a wasp and was stung right between her toes. She had a large local reaction that lasted for days.
I'm so sick of wasps. It seems like a bad year or something. Wasps and ants are everywhere.
More school orientation stuff happened on Monday. At this point in the summer, I'm just ready for the rhythm that comes with fall and school days. (Or maybe I'm just dreaming of cooler weather.)
This puppy is worse than a toddler. She drags everything out and has ruined more than one phone charger. But she's soooo sweet and cuddly and pretty. We haven't found a name that sticks yet, so I call her "Puppy." This has happened before. We had a gray cat that ended up being called Gray. And of course I now have Black. Puppy needs a name.
I drove a big U-haul through a storm to pick up something my daughter had bought off Facebook Marketplace. That was an adventure for sure. Driving it was scary enough without the storm winds and heavy rain.
This weekend I'll be running a taxi service for teenagers, Chauffeuring them to their friends houses and to the county fair.
