When No One Sees

When people die, or are born, people see.

A tragic death is met with sympathy, horror, tears. An old life, well lived, is met with affirmation. "She lived a good life. She brought so much joy"

But a death in the Spirit, when something is reborn inside? Nobody sees that.

No flowers, casseroles, nice cards. Just you and God, slowly rebuilding. On ROCK this time, no more sand. (Matthew 7:24-27)

There's a death and a birth that isn't heard.

The first breathe of a new life can often go unnoticed. But it's there.

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me"

-Galations 2:20

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come"

-2 Corinthians 5:17

Everyone has a need to be seen. "Hey everyone-look! That girl you knew? The anxious one? The foolish one? She's gone! Can you tell? Do you see?"

But there's no birth announcement for her. And that's ok.

Same old frame, different engine. Different fuel now.

The death to one's self can be a painful one. Squaring up. Looking your own sin, right in the face. Owning it all.

"You don't get to bully me anymore" I say. "My dad can beat your dad up."

Stains you never thought would come out, are washed away and replaced with stains of Blood.

It's not popular, it's not seen, it's not performative.

It's Holy.

Selah.
